7 DIY Face Masks For Glowing Skin

Skin is the largest organ of our body and so keeping it healthy is a must for overall good health. You do not always need a lot of drugstore products to maintain a glowing and healthy skin. Homemade DIY face masks are the best option when you want something quick, easy and long lasting for your skin. I have oily, acne prone and sensitive skin and have been using homemade face masks for years. I always prefer natural ingredients over store bought products for face masks because of its natural and organic properties and also because it’s chemical free.

Always do a patch test when trying something new on your skin, whether it be a drugstore product or a DIY mask, to ensure that your skin do not react badly to the ingredients. Here are 7 DIY face masks for glowing skin.

1. Gram Flour And Milk Powder

Gram flour is an excellent cleanser for the skin and milk powder provides nourishment to the skin and also helps in detoxifying the skin. This face mask works as a great cleanser for daily use. I have been using this face mask as a daily cleanser for years and it works great for me. I have oily, acne prone skin and so this one acts really well for removing all the oil and dirt.

How To Make – Mix both the ingredients in 2:1 ratio and add water or rose water to make a paste like consistency.

How To Use – Apply on face except the area around the eyes and keep it for 5 to 10 minutes till it’s half dry. No need to dry it fully and then wash it off with normal water. Can be used once daily.

2. Oats And Honey 

Oats is a very nutritious ingredient and also known to have anti-aging properties, it also gives a nice glow to the skin with frequent use. Honey on the other hand works as a moisturizer for the skin and deeply nourishes the skin. With frequent use it enhances the glow on the skin. This face pack can be used on a weekly basis.

How to Make – Mix oats and honey enough to make a paste and keep the mixture for about 10 to 15 minutes so that the oats mixes well with the honey. When the honey mixes well with the oats then it’s ready to be used.

How To Use – Take the mixture and apply it on your skin and keep it for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash off with normal water. Can be used once or twice a week.

3. Fuller’s Earth or Multani Mitti Powder, Honey And Rose Water

This face mask is my go to face mask for emergency situations! Whenever I get pimples or dull skin, I resort to this face mask. It suits me very well and is really helpful for oily pimple prone skin. Fuller’s Earth helps control the oil production on the skin, it also reduces fine lines and wrinkles and honey and rose water helps in adding back the moisture at a deeper level.

How To Make – Take Fuller’s Earth powder as per your requirement and add half teaspoon honey to it and enough rose water to make a smooth thin paste.

How To Use – Apply the mask except the area around the eyes and leave on for it to dry off completely and then wash off with normal water.

4. Sandalwood Paste

Sandalwood is the best remedy for pimples as per my experience. I have struggled a lot with pimples, rashes and redness on my face. Sandalwood paste works great in reducing pimples at a very fast rate. Sandalwood also brightens the skin, reduces sun tan and rashes and also reduces wrinkles.

How To Make – I use the old school method of a sandalwood stick and stone grinder and make a paste with it. But if you want to make it quick then you can also buy organic sandalwood powder available in the market and use it. Mix sandalwood powder with rose water to make a smooth paste. 

How To Use – Apply the paste on your skin except the skin around the eyes and leave it on to dry off completely. Wash it off with normal water. It can be used once or twice a week. It can also be used as a spot treatment in case of a pimple emergency!

5. Honey And Rose Water

This face mask works like a skin tonic. It’s a quick and light face mask for glowing skin. Honey and rose water helps in brightening the skin in the long run. This mask is very moisturizing and can be used when skin feels dry and dull. It can be used once or twice a week.

How To Make – Mix honey and rose water in 2:1 ratio to get a liquid consistency.

How To Use – Apply the mask and leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes and wash it off with normal water.

6. Ripe Papaya

Papaya is known to be an excellent ingredient for glowing skin. It brightens the skin, reduces sun tan, detoxifies the skin and is full of antioxidants. This one ingredient is enough to give you that party glow with just one use!

How To Make – Take a little piece of a ripe papaya as per your requirement and mash it to make a paste out of it.

How To Use – Apply the paste on your skin and leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes and wash off with normal water.    

7. Egg Whites

Egg whites are high in protein and our skin needs protein for cell build up. Egg whites help in reducing fine lines and wrinkles, it helps relieve dull skin and also helps brightening the skin. This ingredient is also great for a party glow and can give you the results instantly.

How To Make – Break an egg and take the whites as per your requirement.

How To Use – Apply on your skin except the area around the eyes and leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes and wash off with normal water.

Natural and organic ingredients are the best option for long term healthy and glowing skin. Products filled with chemicals can do a lot of harm to your skin in the long term. Though we are not able to completely cut off drugstore products from our life because of our modern lifestyle but what we can do is incorporate as much natural products and ingredients in our life as possible.
