How to travel to Chapora Fort
Chapora Fort is in North Goa overlooking the Chapora River. The fort is just 3 km from Anjuna Beach, 7.6 Kms from Baga Beach, and just 2 kms from Vagator Beach.
You can hire a bike or a scooter to travel to Chapora Fort or if you don’t wish to hire a vehicle, you can take the intracity buses or autos. There are multiple buses that run from the major beaches in Goa
If you are going with your vehicle then paid parking is available near the Fort. You can also see a lot of shops selling dream catchers, home decor, and jewellery in the parking area from where you can shop.
The Hike
When you decide to go to Chapora Fort in Goa, do keep in mind that you have to walk a lot! There is a small hike on the way to the Fort. When you start walking uphill towards Chapora Fort, you will find some shops selling juice and cold drinks. You do need to keep a water bottle with you as after you start climbing the stairs, you will not find any shops, so keep a water bottle and some snacks with you.
You have to climb about 150 steps to reach the top which will take 20 to 30 minutes. Either go in the morning or before sunset as the weather gets too hot during the day. We literally got sunburnt! Keep an umbrella, sunglasses, and a scarf to protect yourself from the sun.
The Experience
In this travel guide I am including all the details that you should know when you go to Chapora Fort in Goa. There is no entry fee to the Fort. The entry timings are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. When you enter the main gate, you will see the walls of the Fort. There is not much of a Fort to see as only the ruins are left now.
This is the place where the famous scene from the movie “Dil Chahta Hai” was shot! You will find this place always crowded as people would take a lot of photos here.
You can see Vagator Beach from here. The beach looks so beautiful from above. Don’t forget to go to Vagator Beach when you visit Chapora Fort as it’s just 2 kms from the Fort and the beach is worth visiting. You can enjoy an amazing sunset from there!
